I have loved animals since I was a little girl and have always had dogs and cats in my life in some way! I was introduced to the world of dog shows when I watched the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on television for the first time in 2001. I will never forget watching JR the Bichon win Best in Show that year. In 2019, I had the privelege of travelling to New York to cover the 143rd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show as a photojournalist. (You can see my photos here and the article I wrote here.) I love photographing dogs in natural settings, studio settings, and when they are competing in Conformation and Scent Work! The Brandybuck Hound name is a way to honour my longtime friend and dog sport mentor, Lori Bulmer, her Meriadoc Beagle legacy, and our mutual love for Lord of the Rings. Plus, it is also a way to honour my first two show dogs, Nat (CAN Ch Meriadoc-Wynfield Solid Gold RN) and Pippin.

I competed in Junior Handling with our boy Nat (and numerous other dogs breeders and owners so graciously allowed me to show) from 2004 to 2008. I then took a long break from competing in dog sports to focus on graduating high school and university. I still watched Westminster and the National Dog Show each year and slowly started attending local shows again starting in 2015. I was officially introduced to the world of Scent Work in 2018 when I went to help out at an SDDA trial with Lori and her incredible girl, Taylor.

I believe dogs deserve to live healthy and fulfilled lives with the people who love them most. Pippin and I have competed in Conformation and Scent Work, while also doing Trick Dog and Canine Fitness activities at home or out on our adventures. We are hoping to train and trial in Rally Obedience at some point as well. Versatile dogs rule!

I am currently a member of the Canadian Kennel Club and have a volunteer position on the CKC Communications Committee. I am also a member of the Western Dachshund Club, the Canadian Detection Sport Association, and the Dachshund Association of Canada. My membership to the Beagle Club of Canada is pending.
